Federal Practice

A substantial portion of our practice is in federal court. Cases which arise out of federal law (such as ERISA, discrimination cases, and many labor laws cases) are often brought in federal court. If brought in state court, defendants often “remove” such cases from state court to federal court. In addition, civil damage cases which involve claims over $75,000 and parties of diverse citizenship (plaintiff and defendant are from different states) are properly brought in or removed to federal court.
